I head up the Artificial Intelligence division here at Hurren & Hope, working with some truly innovative businesses implementing AI and Machine Learning across a variety of sectors. I work with businesses big and small to build dynamic, diverse and talented technology teams.
When I’m not in the H&H office talking tech, you will find me at a pub quiz (specialist topic: film), watching football or climbing a mountain. There will usually be beer involved in all three of those!
In my spare time, I like to brush up on my tech knowledge and you’ll often find me reading a book or watching a TED Talk. I’m currently reading “How to Talk to Robots” by Tabitha Goldstaub, which has given me a fascinating insight into how women have helped pioneer the development of Artificial Intelligence and I’d certainly recommend it if you’re looking to get an understanding of the technology.
My favourite thing about working at Hurren & Hope – aside from the ping pong table in the boardroom – is the fact that we are a dog-friendly office, and if I’ve had a busy day, there is usually a Spaniel or a Beagle ready for belly rubs.
I’m always open to connecting with people and expanding my network, and in particular, I’m always keen to speak to Cloud Engineers, DevOps Engineers, Data Engineers, IoT Technicians, Machine Learning Engineers, Data Scientists and Graduates – amongst other positions. Feel free to reach out if you are in need of help finding a new role.
In 2015, whilst completing my A-Levels, I worked as a Personal Shopper where I had early morning starts collecting and packing online orders for customers, whilst also providing support to customers within the store. This role helped me grow as an individual and helped me realise my passion… Making a difference. From here, I went into hotel reservations and in 2019, I found my passion within recruitment.
When I am not in the H&H office, I am usually curled up on the sofa with a blanket, a cup of tea and a good book – even when it’s 30 degrees outside! The weekend is when I get creative and make stock for my mother-in-law’s handmade craft shop, which was opened just after the second lockdown. My creations started with cards and keyrings and have expanded with my stock now including chalk memo boards, gift tags and charms.
At Hurren & Hope, I support the team with the day-to-day operations including training and system implementation as well as organising events.
I have spent most of my professional career in sales and business development working in various industries; insurance, telecommunications, business supplies, etc. What I enjoyed the most about being in business development was the people element; building relationships, making friends, and doing that extra bit to make my customers happy.
In my next position, I wanted the opportunity to make a real difference to people’s lives and Hurren & Hope have given me the opportunity to do just that. As a Talent Analyst, my responsibility to you is to fully understand your drivers from a work perspective and how those drivers affect your wider life – to build a relationship with you and do all that I can to find your perfect role.
Outside of work, I love all things Eurovision, playing chess, and writing music.
I am a Senior Talent Consultant within the Fintech division at Hurren & Hope. I work with a variety of start-ups, scale-ups and established organisations within this ever-changing field. I began my recruitment career back in 2005, spending a year as a generalist recruiter before specialising in Information Technology. I spent the next 15 years sourcing Development & Technical Teams for a variety of industries, before focusing purely on FinTech.
I use my market knowledge to develop a network of active and passive candidates. This ensures that companies are never held back, or see progress hampered by the scarcity of the right skill sets.
My approach is both honest and open, forging relationships built on trust. I am fully aware that finding a new job or sourcing a new team member can be a challenging process. I am committed to providing a positive, stress-free experience to everyone I work with. Regardless of working on junior or senior appointments, I strive to offer candidates and clients the same exceptional experience. This has resulted in me gaining ongoing repeat business and client / candidate referrals.
Outside of work, you will find me spending time with my wife and son, as well as tending to our three pygmy goats.
I have recently joined the world of recruitment after taking a career side-step from psychotherapy and mental health and have started my career with Hurren & Hope as part of the Candidate Liaison division.
Recruitment is a little different from life in the therapy room, but hopefully just as rewarding as my role allows me to work closely with individuals, understanding their goals, and what it is they want from their next job move. I was attracted to the world of recruitment with employment having a significant impact on our overall wellbeing and quality of life. I am motivated to find roles for candidates that are stimulating and fulfilling; hopefully making a positive difference to their wider lives and relationships.
I currently liaise with skilled individuals in the tech industry, linking them with roles in diverse and innovative companies. When I’m not speaking with candidates, you’ll find me engrossed in a good book or messing about in the great outdoors with my husband and kiddos.
The recruitment realm snatched me up with her claws nearly five years ago, and she has never let me go since! As Head of Client Services at Hurren & Hope, I’m in the trenches with the troops ensuring we deliver a high-quality service to clients whilst providing support to the whole team. I am incredibly proud to say that we have partnered with leading organisations connecting them with extraordinary brains across the country, whilst breaking the mould of the recruitment industry making people the focus throughout everything we do.
When not in the office, my main passion is hitting a little white ball around a field attempting to get it into a small hole. If all fails on the course (which happens most of the time), I enjoy heading out for a ride on two wheels to prepare for the Tour de France or spending time with the other two loves of my life: my partner and daughter.
I pride myself on providing our clients with a respectful, knowledgeable, and professional service, which in return, has built long-lasting partnerships and distinguished ourselves from the stereotype in the industry.
Having grown up in Suffolk and living on farms as well as having a family involved in agriculture, I have been interested in the sector for quite a while. I took my chances and moved to London after school, studying fashion and falling into a career in recruitment!
I have been in the industry for over 10 years, starting in luxury retail managing the Selfridges account running a large-scale temp desk. I moved into advertising, marketing and digital creative before moving back to Suffolk and running a successful admin temp desk for the local market. Mixed in with this experience, I have worked in agricultural research for about 4 years. Now, having the opportunity to merge the two, I have been building the Agritech division of Hurren & Hope since the end of last year.
It’s been a great opportunity to get involved in the industry in a time where we are transitioning so much and becoming more aware of social and environmental impact. The agricultural sector is ever-changing, and with the number of start-ups and entrepreneurial talent coming through, it’s an interesting time to be speaking with candidates and clients.
As a consultancy, we are focused on partnering with universities and colleges to help guide young talent into the workplace and we’re keen to work with people from all backgrounds, whether they are re-training or using a transferrable skillset.
The Agritech division focuses on practical farming roles, from graduates and assistant managers upwards – as well as consultancy, sales, R&D, agronomy, livestock health, manufacturing and engineering.
My mission (which I choose to accept!) is to create an environment within H&H that is about supporting, listening, and growing the people who rock up every day to put a shift in. If the team aren’t firing on all cylinders, then it’s up to us to make sure we know why and help them reach their full potential.
I coach the team on both their personal and professional growth, whilst working alongside the executive team on the company’s goals & strategies.
Over my 30 years of working within career development, I have been in a fortunate position to work with a diverse array of clients, which include the BBC, MOD, farm estates and breweries. I am passionate in my belief that knowledge is only good when shared as wisdom. My goal is to share as much wisdom as I can to help change the way we work and think for better outcomes.
My values are Empathy, Trust, Respectfulness and Collaboration. When I’m not working, you’ll find me strolling the Suffolk coastline with my husband and Nelly the cavapoo – there’s no place I’d rather be.
I have been extremely fortunate in my career to engage with some truly inspirational individuals, both in the form of employers and candidates. One of the things those individuals showed me is we can all achieve more with the right people around us. I’m not ashamed to admit that I love the complexities of people – their motivations, fears and values – the very things that make us individual yet in many ways, not so different from each other. I have made it my goal to try and understand those complexities, to provide clarity where needed, and advice and support when asked.
I founded Hurren & Hope as I believed the recruitment sector was losing its focus on the very thing that sustains it… people! I wanted to bring together a team of ethical Talent Consultants, train them continuously to perfect their knowledge of the marketplace – focusing on psychology, behavioural science and emotional intelligence – to ensure they offer clear, genuine consultative advice. All within a sales-free environment that enables them to provide the best service to employers and candidates – rewarding the service provided not the resulting commission.
The end result is we are all stronger and more successful together. That’s all of us – the hiring manager, the prospective candidate, the internal talent department / HR and my team – everyone!
It has to be a symbiotic relationship for us all to prosper.
I am a qualified agriculture and farm management graduate with experience across many fields. I grew up in Kenya on the largest horticultural rose farm in East Africa, I then went to school in Switzerland at Aiglon College and am now living in the UK, having successfully completed my agriculture degree at the RAU.
These experiences have given me a unique view of the challenges different communities face and has assisted me in meeting many contacts in the agri-tech world and beyond. A great passion of mine is hydroponics and aquaponics and while I was at university, I built my own self-sufficient system, as well as building a system in Kenya after finishing school.
I have recently joined the team at Hurren & Hope and have been amazed by how many lives I can reach and hopefully assist through this role. Consulting candidates and clients through the recruitment process gives me an unparalleled sense of achievement. I am exhilarated to see who this role allows me to meet and hopefully help. I look forward to working with you!
We’re always on the lookout for great people to join our team of tech super-humans. You don’t need to be a master recruiter (in fact, we’d prefer it if you’re not), just a genuine person who cares deeply about helping clients and candidates to achieve their goals. If you’re motivated by sales targets and putting bums on seats regardless of best-fit, we respectfully ask that you do not send your CV and covering letter. For too long, the traditional technical recruitment agency model has reduced individuals seeking work to a commodity, providing a basic administration function that offers little value to either the employer or the individual. The world of work has radically changed and work, for many, is much more than just a job. Your story is your own; you hold the pen, but who do you turn to if you’re not sure what the next chapter looks like or the one before has given your plot an unexpected twist? Whether you’re a senior exec or recent graduate, we’ll bring clarity, focus and an unbiased view to help you navigate your career journey, targeting best-fit markets and employers, and ensuring your personal brand is honed to attract offers.
Hurren & Hope HD Planet is our response to the ecological and ethical challenges we all need to face up to. It’s our opportunity to take all that we’ve learnt from building successful teams that drive successful companies and focus that wisdom on enabling entrepreneurs and ‘good actors’ to create the technology that will power our planet. Global outcry alone will not change a thing. If we’re to clean our oceans, reduce our reliance on plastic packaging and cool the planet, we need to take action now – with technology and innovation at the core of those advancements. We believe that we in the business community can build vibrant and profitable companies, creating jobs and wealth, while delivering tech-powered solutions to a global marketplace that provide the bridge between the ecological nightmare we face and the new dawn we can set in motion.learn more
Hurren & Hope HD Health is our commitment to shaping the future of healthcare, not only here in the UK but on a global stage. A bold statement, but we believe there is a real opportunity to move forward with a sustainable vision of what we think is possible in the field of health-tech. Working in collaboration with experts in the field of healthcare, med-tech and the wider scientific community, we support business-as-usual activities by sourcing the talent needed to advance projects. It’s rare for a breakthrough in med-tech innovation to be attributed to an individual. It’s far more likely to be the result of a coordinated effort, often involving cross-national teams. As well as helping you attract, engage and retain the expertise required, we can provide insights and identify potential barriers to your project’s success.learn more
In short, human dynamics is the science of bringing the right people together, in the right environment, with the right tools, culture and leadership to move a cause forward. Intellectual diversity, empowerment and engagement are vital to the process of building high-functioning teams. Humans caused many of the challenges we now face, but humans will also find the answers to overcome those challenges. We firmly believe if you bring the right people together who share a common cause great things can happen. We love working with companies and individuals who share this ‘common cause’ of boosting innovation in technology to improve the healthcare and environmental legacy we leave for future generations.
From hiring best-fit team members to improving your employer brand, assessing your company culture and coaching staff at all levels to achieve their full potential – we’re in your corner.
