Hello! I’m Gemma, and I’m thrilled to have joined the Talent Analyst division at Hurren & Hope. My role is to liaise with skilled individuals in the tech industry, linking them with roles in diverse and innovative companies.
I’m totally new to the world of recruitment, joining Hurren & Hope after taking a career side-step from psychotherapy and mental health. Recruitment is a little different from life in the therapy room, but hopefully just as rewarding. I’m still working closely with people to understand their goals, and what it is they want from their next job move.
Recruitment appeals to me because employment has a significant impact on our overall wellbeing and quality of life. I know this from personal experience, as well as the wealth of research demonstrating a link between ‘quality of work environment’ and employee wellbeing (see The Center for the Advancement of Wellbeing). This motivates me to find roles for candidates that are stimulating and fulfilling; hopefully, making a positive difference to their wider lives and relationships.
I’m learning however that there’s more to recruitment than just seeking out skilled and talented professionals. The human dynamics priority of ensuring an accurate match between candidate and company is what sets Hurren & Hope apart in the industry. People thrive in jobs where their values fit with those of their employers, and where their contributions are appreciated. This formula brings the best out of people and is more likely to result in employee retention and long-term value for the company. I’m hugely excited to be a part of this process!
If you got this far, thanks for reading! When I’m not speaking with candidates you’ll find me engrossed in a good book or messing about in the great outdoors with my husband and kiddos.
